Large white sand beach, the kite area is a bit further after the rental umbrella zone. This is the location of the Eolis school. There is a restaurant, shower and toilet just after the water taxi pier and a bar on the beach. After the umbrella area, the beach continues for kilometers towards Altura. It's a huge white sand beach that stretches from Faro to Spain. The thermal wind comes side on from Faro and the water surface is flat. It's therefore possible to ride for kilometers along the beach. However, with an east-southeast wind (very strong Levante coming from Tarifa) there will be waves. There are plenty of magnificent spots along this immense beach; e.g. Praia da Fuseta (10min Ferry) or Praia do Barril (train) but at Cabanas de Tavira; the beach is easily accessible by water taxi (5min). Even with a foil and two kites, crossing is easy. At Altura you can access by car, but the kite zone is small and there are many more swimmers. For foilers; Cabanas is a training spot for Portugal's race team and the place where there weren't those small algae in the water. As a bonus, Tavira is well worth visiting.
