El Mouja Surf House

El Mouja is the boardsport house of Moulay Bouzerktoun village, on Calle Labdi, a minute from Morocco's most renowned wave spot. Run by the Labdi family, it brings together accommodation, a kitchen and water sports in a village that has only a handful of them.

The house rents windsurf, kitesurf, surf and stand-up paddle gear and runs surf and windsurf lessons with experienced instructors in French, English, Spanish and Arabic. It arranges airport transfers from Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca and Essaouira, works with neighbouring clubs for wingfoil equipment, and helps with gear repairs on site.

For stays, seafront houses with terraces looking over the spot are let by the night as well as by the month, the half-year or the year; a garage takes boards and rigged sails so you can be on the water in minutes. The family kitchen serves couscous, tagines, fresh fish, kefta and tangia, with breakfast on request.

The north-easterly trade wind, the « charki », blows all year at Moulay and strengthens from mid-March to mid-September, up to force 7; the waves are at their best from spring to autumn.
