Essaouira Watersports

Essaouira Watersports has been teaching kitesurfing, surfing and wingfoiling on Essaouira bay since 2009. Founder Rachid and his team work from the long sandy beach of the bay, where the trade wind blows side-onshore for much of the year — the school claims wind on close to 300 days a year.

Instructors are IKO certified and teach in French, English, Spanish and Arabic, from a first contact with the kite through to advanced coaching. The rental fleet is renewed regularly and comes from Duotone, Cabrinha, Ozone, F-One and Airush, listed as equipment partners and available to test. The school reports more than 440 customer reviews on TripAdvisor.

Beyond hourly lessons, it sells week-long holiday packages and multi-sport packages combining all three disciplines. Group life is part of the deal: a daily mint tea and regular team dinners. The address is 11 avenue Princesse Lalla Amina, just behind the seafront.

Open every day from 9am to 6pm. The school publishes no closing period and advertises wind on roughly 300 days a year.
