Gipsy Surfer Surf Shop

Opened in June 1996 in the heart of the Essaouira medina, a few steps from Place Moulay Hassan, Gipsy Surfer is the oldest surf shop in town. It stocks boards and accessories alongside its own Gipsy Surfer Apparel clothing line, made locally in Essaouira for men, women and children.

The shop is the exclusive distributor in Morocco for Cabianca Surfboards — hand-shaped by Johnny Cabianca in the Basque Country — and for the Agote label. It is also an official Rip Curl retailer, with a new collection every summer and winter: clothing, swimwear, wetsuits, watches and wallets. The custom-order catalogue can be browsed in store.

Gipsy Surfer also rents boards in every size, from shortboards to longboards, sourced from a range of shapers, and handles repairs, with leashes in all sizes, FCS fins and Solarez resin. After close to thirty years on the same street, the team doubles as a local information point on the region's schools and spots.
