KSE Kite & Surf Essaouira

KSE — Kite and Surf Essaouira — is a Moroccan kitesurfing, surfing and wingfoiling school on the main beach of Essaouira, at number 7 of the Beach Residence, a few minutes from the medina. It is the most visible school in the bay: over 940 Google reviews at 5 out of 5. Founded in 2022 by a group of locals, it claims a permanent team that lives, rides and teaches on site all year, and refuses to subcontract teaching to passing seasonal staff.

The team is small and named: Faycel, the centre manager, runs the base, the planning and the daily calls; Ayoub takes the first kitesurfing lessons; Soufiane handles surfing and the guided trips. The kitesurfing instructors concerned hold IKO certification, first-aid training is kept current and the school states an active liability insurance. Lessons are given in French, English, Arabic and Darija. Groups are capped at three students in kitesurfing and four in surfing, one instructor for two in semi-private; every session starts with a weather briefing, a spot choice and a gear check. Surfing starts from six or seven years old, kitesurfing rather from twelve.

Alongside lessons, KSE rents kitesurfing, surfing and wingfoiling gear by the hour, half day or day, offers on-site storage so riders do not have to carry a boardbag through the medina, and guides trips to the spots of the region: downwinders between Essaouira, Moulay Bouzerktoun and Sidi Kaouki, surf trips to Sidi Kaouki and Imsouane, with transport, gear and guide included. The school does not sell accommodation: it points riders to riads and villas in the medina, booked directly.

No seasonal closure is announced: the team says it teaches all year round. It gives May to September as the most reliable wind period for kitesurfing, and September to May as the season of the steadiest waves for surfing.
