Paradise Beach is a kitesurfing spot on the south coast of Kos, between Kefalos and Theologos. This fine sand beach lives up to its name with crystal clear waters and an idyllic setting typical of Greek islands. The spot receives the Meltemi wrapping around the island from the west, offering pleasant cross-shore conditions. Less windy than Mastichari on the north coast, Paradise Beach suits intermediate riders looking for moderate wind conditions with some wave action.

Spot functioning
Paradise Beach works with the cross-shore NW/W Meltemi wrapping around Kos. The riding area offers a mix of flat water near shore and small chop to moderate waves further out. The launch zone is sandy and accessible. Cohabitation with swimmers needs managing in high season — respect marked swimming zones. The spot works from June to September, best when the Meltemi is moderate to strong.

On the water
Crystal clear Aegean Sea waters, 22-26°C in summer. Lycra or 2mm shorty sufficient. Sandy bottom with excellent visibility. Shallow water near shore, small chop to moderate waves (0.3-1m) further out when the Meltemi is established. Moderate current along the coast toward the east.
Parking
Parking along the access road to Paradise Beach. A few spots by the beach and a larger parking area set back. In high season, the beach is popular with tourists and swimmers — spaces fill up quickly. Access from the main road crossing the island interior.
Wind specificities
The Meltemi arrives at Paradise Beach after wrapping around the western tip of Kos, blowing from NW/W cross-shore on this south coast. Wind is generally 3-5 knots lighter than on the north coast (Mastichari) as the island creates a partial shadow effect. Typical strength of 12-22 knots in summer, sufficient for kiting with medium-sized kites. Wind can be slightly gustier (gusts/lulls) than on the directly exposed north coast. Best season from June to September with peak in July-August.
Hazards
Cohabitation with swimmers in high season — swimmers have priority, maintain a safe distance. Wind can be gusty with lulls followed by gusts. Lateral current. Strong sun exposure — sun protection essential. Some scattered rocks on the bottom in certain areas.
