Hatteras Island Surf Shop

The Hatteras Island Surf Shop is the original surf shop of the HISS brand, in Waves on Hatteras Island (Outer Banks, North Carolina), tucked in the trees off Highway 12. The website notes that you still see more boards than clothes: surfboards, kiteboards, wing foil, windsurf and paddleboard gear, wetsuits and apparel.

The shop offers surf lessons (getting out through the waves, the timed push, the pop-up) and rentals of surfboards, paddleboards, kayaks, skimboards and bodyboards. Kiteboarding, wing, windsurf and e-foil lessons are given from the Hatteras Island Sail Shop on the Pamlico Sound side, run by the same team a few hundred meters away.

The website also runs an online store that ships year-round. Brands visible on the site include Airush and Prolimit.
