Wimkite School

Wimkite School is a kitesurf school founded in 2005 in Wissant, in the Grand Site des Deux Caps, presenting itself as the oldest in the Hauts-de-France. It is run by Thomas Rumelioglu, a kitesurf instructor since 1999 and sailing instructor since 1995. The base is on rue des Flobarts in Wissant.

The school teaches kitesurf, wingfoil, kitefoil, e-foil, kiteskate and wingskate, to all levels and ages 10 to 65, in groups of 3 to 4 students (1 to 2 for private lessons). About 90% of lessons take place on Wissant beach; depending on tides and wind they may be held in Wimereux (Pointe aux Oies) or in the Boulogne-sur-Mer roadstead. A lesson cancelled for lack of wind is rescheduled at no charge.

Equipment (kites, boards, wetsuits, harnesses, helmet with built-in radio) is supplied and renewed every year. The website notably mentions North, Flysurfer, Airush, F-One, Brunotti, Slingshot, Mystic and Prolimit. Rental of kites, wings, paddles and equipment is also offered.

Instructors are state-qualified (BPJEPS FFVL); the school shows AFKite, ProKite and EFK labels and a DRDJS approval.

Lessons from 9 am to 7:30 pm; times and locations given 24 to 48 hours in advance.
