Ikarus Kite and Wing Lodge Isla Blanca

Ikarus is a kitesurf and wing foil centre at Isla Blanca, north of Cancún, on the edge of the Chacmuchuch nature reserve lagoon. It describes itself as the first kitesurf school in the Riviera Maya, active since 2002. The lagoon water is flat and shallow and can be ridden in any wind direction.

Lessons are taught by certified instructors in English, Spanish, German, Italian and French. They are supported by rescue boats and jet skis, which take students and instructors back upwind so there is more time for practice. The centre offers group lessons of 2, 3 and 6 hours, private lessons, supervised sessions, equipment rental (kitesurf, kitefoil, wing foil, wing SUP) and a kite shop.

The site also includes an ecological boutique hotel and a campsite: king-size, double and triple rooms, tents with a bed or a hammock, plus a restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool, a garden and a private beach. Activities when the wind is down include paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and birdwatching.
