Tribu Surf is a 100% Nicaraguan surf school based at Playa Hermosa, about fifteen minutes south of San Juan del Sur. It was founded by Pedro, a local surfer who became an ISA-certified coach after training in England, following years as head coach at another school.
The bilingual Spanish and English instructors pick the day's spot according to conditions, tide and the students' level. Lessons last 1.5 hours (land training, then in-water coaching) and run in small groups, semi-private for two, or one-to-one, for all levels. The board and round-trip transport from San Juan del Sur are included; allow 3 to 4 hours in total, travel included. The school also rents boards and can supply photos of your session.
