Veronikites
Diagonal 5 # 13-170, Salinas del Rey (Juan de Acosta) · Atlántico · Colombia
School Presentation
Veronikites is a kitesurf school in Salinas del Rey, on Colombia's Caribbean coast between Barranquilla and Cartagena de Indias. It is an IKO-certified centre created by Alberto Junior, known as "El Mono", a fisherman's son from Santa Verónica who became a local figure of the spot, together with a childhood friend.
The team includes several IKO instructors (levels 1 to 3) and assistants teaching in Spanish and English. The school advertises IKO safety protocols, an instructor-student communication system, delimited zones, liability insurance and an online progress road map.
Lessons include a one-hour private lesson, a 5-hour basic course (theory, safety, first flights, body drag and kite control) and a 10-hour full course taking students to waterstart with the board, with a video of the session. Equipment and insurance are included. The spot has 15 to 25 knots of wind, flat water and waves, with high season from December to April.
