De Silva Wind Resort

De Silva Wind Resort is a kitesurf, wing foil and windsurf centre in Sethawadiya, between the big Kalpitiya lagoon and the Indian Ocean. It is run by Upul De Silva, a multiple Sri Lankan national windsurfing champion who claims more than twenty years of teaching experience.

The centre is VDWS-affiliated and teaches kitesurfing, wing foiling and windsurfing at all levels. Depending on the wind, riders launch from the beach in front of the resort or take a boat across the lagoon to the teaching zone, with a rescue boat during lessons. The site presents the centre as a North Kiteboarding test centre.

The resort has two accommodation sites, a swimming pool, two restaurants, an Ayurveda centre, a lagoon-view terrace and an airport transfer service. It won the Sri Lanka Tourism Award for best watersport centre in 2018 and 2024, according to the website.
