School Presentation
Sethawadi Kite Centre is a kitesurfing school on the Kalpitiya lagoon, on Sri Lanka's north-west coast. It is led by chief instructor Matt Kwantes, who has taught for more than twenty years and holds both the VDWS instructor licence and the IKO Senior Level 2 certificate.
Lessons take place on flat water in the lagoon, following a structured progression with no prepaid package: you pay only for the hours you actually do, at a decreasing hourly rate. The centre also offers wingfoil and windsurfing lessons, equipment rental, storage for your own gear, beach support and boat transport to the spot.
The centre is linked to Villa Sethawadi, which accommodates guests. Two windy seasons shape the year: the southwest monsoon (mid-May to end of September, 18 to 30 knots) and the northeast monsoon (mid-December to mid-March, 15 to 25 knots). No wetsuit is needed as the water stays warm all year.
