Swell Tofino

Swell Tofino is a surf school and rental shop at Hotel Zed, between the inlet and North Chesterman Beach in Tofino on Vancouver Island. It is run by Emre Bosut, a surfer and Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer. The company grew out of T'ashii Paddle School, founded in 2013, and the website cites over 13 years of operation in Tofino.

Surf lessons last 3 hours, including about 1.5 hours in the water, with a beach briefing beforehand. They are offered as group lessons (5 students per instructor, ages 13+, swimmers only) or private lessons (ages 5+, non-swimmers welcome). The instructor picks the day's beach from North Chesterman, Cox Bay or South Chesterman depending on conditions. All gear is provided; students make their own way to the beach while the school's van carries the boards.

The shop rents surfboards (including soft-tops), paddleboards, wetsuits and bikes year round. Swell also offers paddleboard lessons and first aid courses.
