Oudayas Surf Club de Rabat (OSCR)

The Oudayas Surf Club de Rabat was founded in 1998, when surfers from the city came together to open a club at the foot of the Oudayas kasbah. It is one of the capital's oldest surf and bodyboard clubs. It occupies a white building on stilts at the edge of the beach, against the ramparts, with changing rooms, showers and a cafeteria.

The club coaches the region's children and teenagers all year round, grouped by age and level, and has produced several champions. Its teaching is not restricted to members: it also works with holiday clubs, schools, company staff, works councils and associations. Groups are capped at eight people per instructor, boards and wetsuits are provided, and two eighteen-seat vans take students out to the region's spots.

Progression is organised as courses of ten ninety-minute sessions. The beginner course covers equipment, getting into the water safely, paddling, catching whitewater and standing up; the bronze course teaches how to work around the breaking zone, use a current to reach the peak, pop up in one movement on an unbroken wave and hold your balance along the face, with video playback. The "golden wave" courses run over three or six months. Being able to swim is compulsory.

Sessions every day except Monday, all year round. Courses consist of ten ninety-minute sessions, at a minimum of two sessions a week; single sessions and the discovery course can be taken freely.
