Bise Noire

Bise Noire is a board-sports shop and school on the shore of Lake Murten (Lac de Morat), in Murten, canton of Fribourg, on the lakeside road about ten minutes' walk from Murten and Muntelier stations. The business says it has been operating since 1981; it was opened by Lorenz Moser and is still run by his family, with a team of instructors and sales staff. The shop opens straight onto a beach, with a large car park and three free beach-volleyball courts.

On the teaching side, the school runs wing courses: a 2.5-hour starter session, a weekend course, a three-session course and 50-minute private lessons, from age 13, equipment included. Progression follows a five-step path: wind and safety, wing handling, riding a centreboard board without a foil, boat-towed foiling, then wingfoiling. The school also teaches windsurfing (adults, children from 10, groups and school classes, windsurf-foil as private lessons) and gives stand up paddle introductions. Kitesurfing is not taught: the shop advises learning it at a school on better-suited water, often abroad.

The shop sells windsurf, wing, kitesurf and SUP gear (Duotone, Cabrinha, Naish, NeilPryde, Severne, Starboard, JP Australia, Fanatic, Armstrong, Tabou, Gaastra and more), wetsuits and harnesses, and runs a workshop that repairs boards, sails and kites. It rents windsurf boards, wings (with or without foil), SUPs and sea kayaks. The website publishes the rules for the Pantschau kite spot next to the shop: for experienced kiters only, closed as a launch site from 1 June to 15 September, rideable in west to south-west and north-east winds, with entry over a rock embankment. Every spring Bise Noire also hosts the Surfclassic, a trade show and second-hand gear market (38th edition in May 2026).
