UNIKITE is a kitesurfing school founded in 2008 by Sébastien Sachs, a state-qualified kite instructor who has been teaching at Leucate since 2010. The school is affiliated to the FFVL (French free flight federation) and holds the EFK label (French kite school network). First based in Leucate, it now operates from the Bergerie du Château de Fitou, on the hills of Fitou facing Leucate, and still works with the Chinook shop in Leucate.
Lessons take place at Leucate, Le Barcarès, the Étang de La Palme and Port-la-Nouvelle. The spot is chosen according to the wind and the group's level, and the meeting point is confirmed the evening before. Beginners learn in shallow water, while more advanced riders also go out into deeper water. Each instructor supervises no more than four kites, with one person per kite except for pairs; students are coached by radio, and every session starts with a briefing and ends with an individual debriefing. One lesson means three hours of instruction and about four hours on site.
For experienced riders, the school offers coaching in freestyle (jumps, rotations, kiteloops) and strapless riding, downwinders with boat support and a guide, "kitesurf safaris", supervised sessions and equipment rental. The school's gear comes from several brands, including Airush, F-One and Cabrinha.
Prices shown on the website (undated table, checked in September 2026), per person, for low and high season. One lesson includes 3 hours of instruction and takes about 4 hours on site. Equipment is provided, except third-party liability insurance, neoprene shoes and sunglasses.
Beginner lessons: 25% off when booking as a pair. The same prices apply to lessons for experienced riders. The website does not give the dates of low and high season.
