Coriolis Foil School is a school dedicated to foiling, based on the shore of the Leucate lagoon. It was founded by Luc Graulou, who holds the French state diploma for kite and wing instructors (BPJEPS) and previously worked as a kitesurf instructor; he teaches all the lessons himself. The school is affiliated to AFKite (the French kite association): each student receives a kitepass, a level card that records their progress and is recognised by IKO schools.
Three activities are offered, from beginner to advanced level, in groups of up to three people and from age 10. The simulator is a bar mounted on the side of the boat: students hold on to it to find their stance and their first flights on a foil without having to handle a wing; sessions last 45 minutes. Wingfoiling is taught in 2-hour lessons, on their own or in packages combining simulator and wing sessions according to the student's background: complete beginners, board-sport riders, or windsurfers, kitesurfers and sailors. Kitefoiling is for kitesurfers who are already independent, in 2-hour private lessons, including manoeuvres (jibe, tack). The boat is also used for safety, pick-ups and debriefs on the water.
The base, where students get equipped and go over the weather and the water area, is next to the Petit Pêcheur spot, with a car park close by. In sea breeze conditions, simulator and wingfoil lessons take place at the Petit Pêcheur; in tramontane wind, wingfoiling moves to the Mine spot, five minutes away by boat. The school uses F-One equipment (wings, boards and foils), renewed every year.
