Grip Surf School

Grip Surf School is an official school of the Galician Surf Federation, right on As Furnas beach in Xuño (Porto do Son), next to the Waimea beach bar. It says it operates with the authorisation of the Spanish coastal authority to occupy the maritime public domain.

Lessons are progressive: students start in shallow water, then move to deeper areas and bigger waves under instructor supervision. Teaching covers positioning in the break zone, currents, duck diving, water etiquette and respect for the environment. The website also mentions children's and adapted lessons, a surf camp and a surf house.

The school rents equipment: surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, paddle boards and kayaks. To rent a board you must have taken a lesson before and be able to change direction.
