Escuela de Surf As Furnas, founded in 2014, aims to promote surfing on the Barbanza coast of Galicia. It teaches at several beaches in the municipality of Porto do Son, including As Furnas and Rio Sieira, and is affiliated with the Spanish (FES) and Galician (FGS) surf federations.
The school is open all year: weekends, holidays and school breaks in winter, and every day from 1 July to 15 September. It offers beginner, improver and competition classes (technical sessions with video correction), personal coaching, group surf trips and surfskate classes. Groups are small; equipment (board, wetsuit, lycra), civil liability insurance and transport to the beach are included in the packs.
