Kitesurf66

School Presentation

Kitesurf66 is a kitesurfing school in Canet-en-Roussillon, based at the Pont des Basses spot between Canet and Saint-Cyprien. It is run by Thibault Fauvet, who has held the French state kite instructor diploma (BPJEPS glisse aérotractée) since 2016 and has taught in several schools in France and the French West Indies. According to the Canet tourist office, sessions start by boat from the harbour to reach the Pont des Basses riding area.

The instructor picks the spot each day according to the students' level and the weather: Pont des Basses, at sea, which works in all wind directions and often with an east to south-east thermal breeze in summer; the Salses-Leucate lagoon at Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, suited to learning in offshore wind (tramontane); and the shallow La Palme lagoon as a fallback in strong onshore wind. Groups are limited to three students per instructor, each linked by radio, with a safety boat. The school's North equipment is renewed every year; third-party liability and personal accident insurance are provided.

The programme covers kite-flying on the beach, sessions and courses up to independence, lessons for two, advanced coaching (freeride or strapless) and supervised sessions for independent riders. On light-wind days, the school also offers boat-towed foiling from age 10 and wakeboarding. Kite lessons are open from age 12 and 35 kg.
