École de voile de Valras-Plage

The Valras-Plage sailing school is run by the town council and holds the École Française de Voile label from the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile). It operates from two sites: the permanent Orpellières base, open all year on the left bank of the river Orb, east of the town centre, inside a nature area protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral; and the Archipel summer base on the beach opposite the main lifeguard post, where a breakwater creates a small sheltered lagoon. Sessions take place either between the river banks and the river mouth, or at sea.

Wingfoiling (called "Foil Wing" by the school) is taught from age 12 in one-hour private lessons from the Orpellières base; the school advertises lessons all year round. Windsurfing is offered in summer at the Archipel from age 10: three- or five-session courses (beginners in the morning, improvers holding level 2 in the afternoon), private lessons and supervised hire. Instructors hold state qualifications, and around ten motorboats, including four RIBs, provide safety cover. The school also trains entry-level sailing instructors, including in windsurfing.

The rest of the programme focuses on dinghy sailing: Optimist, Pico, Funboat, Hobie Cat catamarans, RS Vision dinghy and a small keelboat, in holiday courses, a Wednesday children's club and a Saturday adult club, plus school and group sessions. In summer the Archipel also hires out catamarans, Funboats, paddleboards and kayaks. Changing rooms and showers on site.
