Glisse & Kite is a sailing and kitesurfing club based at the leisure centre on the Étang de Pissevaches in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer (municipality of Fleury), near Narbonne. It has organised the Junior Kitesurf Freestyle World Cup since 2003. Its sea spot is a marked zone reserved for kitesurfing and wingfoiling, a five-minute walk from the base, inside a Natura 2000 area. Three wind patterns alternate there: the tramontane, which gives flat water, the summer thermal breeze, and the onshore sea wind, which brings waves.
Kitesurf lessons last 2.5 hours and take place at sea, with a boat for the body-drag exercises; all equipment (wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid, harness) is provided and teaching is by state-qualified instructors. In private lessons, the student is linked to the instructor by radio. Wingfoiling is taught step by step: wingsurfing on a shallow part of the lagoon, towed foiling on the 225 m cable ski or behind a boat, then flying at sea, in groups of six at most. Independent riders can use the supervised zone with a pass and rent Eleveight and CrazyFly equipment. Together with Windmagic, the IKO centre in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, the club hosts kitesurf (IKO) and wingfoil (IWO) instructor courses.
The base also has a sailing school (Optimist, windsurfing, multi-sport courses), a wakeboard cable park, stand-up paddle and kayak rental, group activities and a beach bar. Changing rooms, showers, parking and wifi are available on site. In winter the team teaches kite, wing and windsurfing in Guadeloupe, on Caravelle beach in Sainte-Anne.
