Central Windsurf

Central Windsurf is a beach club and sailing school on the Plage des Pins in Argelès-sur-Mer, at lifeguard station no. 3, at the foot of the Albères massif where the rocky coast begins. Founded in 1979 by Jean-Claude Cuffy, it was the first club in the town and was long the meeting point for windsurfers before broadening its range. Alex Lalljee, who had worked with the club since 2010, has run it since 2016. Courses give access to the FFVoile sailing passport and the club is approved by the French youth and sports authorities.

Wingfoiling is taught in a course of three 1.5-hour private sessions, from age 14 and with no prior experience: handling the wing on the beach and first runs on a daggerboard board, then balancing on the foil board towed by the motorboat, and finally combining both to attempt the first flights. Windsurfing remains the club's original speciality: group courses of five 1.5-hour sessions in July and August (beginners from 12, intermediates from 14), advanced courses for up to four people, private windsurf and funboard lessons, and board and funboard rental under the eye of the state-qualified instructors. The sailing channel lies next to a lifeguard station.

The club also offers catamaran and Fun Boat courses, catamaran outings, paddle, kayak and catamaran rental, equipment storage and a beach area with sunloungers and straw parasols.
