Wind Sports Center Algarve

Wind Sports Center is a water sports school and rental centre based in Meia Praia, a 10-15 minute walk from Lagos town centre. Its website says it was the first kitesurf school in the Algarve (since 2000); the company also runs a base in Boa Vista (Cape Verde).

The headquarters sits on Meia Praia beach, about 5 km long, with flat water in the afternoon offshore wind. The kitesurf centre is in the Alvor lagoon at Vale da Lama, a nature reserve about 5 km from Lagos centre.

The offer covers kitesurf, wingfoil, windsurf, surf and stand up paddle (lessons and rentals), with night-guarded equipment storage, a rescue service and camps. Courses for all levels with accredited instructors according to the website. The thermal north-westerly wind is strongest from June to August (15 to 30 knots in the afternoon).
