Windsurf Park

Windsurf Park is a water sports centre that has been operating for more than thirty years on the shore of the Étang du Ponant, along the D62 road between La Grande-Motte and Le Grau-du-Roi, about fifteen minutes from Montpellier. The centre sits on the Le Grau-du-Roi side of the lagoon, next to the Ponant car park. The Ponant is an enclosed lagoon right by the sea, described as a safe stretch of water that is well exposed to Mediterranean winds, which makes it a suitable place to learn.

Windsurfing and wingfoiling are available as rentals or as introductory sessions supervised by a qualified instructor; lessons and courses are open to adults and to children from the age of 8. The centre also rents out stand-up paddleboards and gives paddleboarding lessons (under the Paddle Center name), and rents Hobie Cat catamarans and sea kayaks; for catamaran hire, a buoyancy aid is provided and a trapeze harness is lent on request, but wetsuits are not supplied.

Groups are welcome too: school sailing trips, company outings and seminars, families. The La Grande-Motte tourist office lists the centre as holding a Jeunesse et Sports (French youth and sports ministry) approval. On site: free parking and a relaxation area for a drink by the beach. Staff speak French, English and Spanish.
