Hibiskite is a kitesurfing and wingfoiling school combined with a board sports shop in Le Grau-du-Roi (Gard). The shop, at 49 rue des Lamparos, is also the meeting point for lessons. The school was set up in 2010 in partnership with Surf Loisirs, a shop established in Le Grau-du-Roi since 1980; Hibiskite took over that shop in 2017 and kept on teaching.
Kitesurfing courses take place on the wide beach of L'Espiguette, reached with the school's safety boat. Groups have no more than four students, each in radio contact with a state-qualified instructor. The programme covers safety, kite control, water starts, riding in both directions and going upwind, along with basics of weather, rules of navigation and gear care. Wingfoiling lessons, limited to three students, also run with a boat and radios, and can begin with boat-towed foiling on a simulator. The school also offers 3-hour lessons for one or two people in kitesurfing, wing or parawing, and electric-assisted foil lessons (Foil Drive). Depending on the wind, these sessions take place on the Étang du Ponant, on the sandbank or at Plage Sud.
The shop sells new and used gear, in store and online, mostly from F-One (kitesurf, wing and parawing kites, boards, foils and spare parts), as well as Manera equipment (wetsuits, harnesses, helmets, vests), Ozone gear and Foil Drive assist motors. It rents F-One wingfoil gear by the day and has a repair workshop for kites and boards.
Prices shown on the website in September 2026, equipment provided for lessons (for the kitesurfing course: kites, boards, helmet with radio, harness, buoyancy vest and wetsuit).
Online store: payment by card or bank transfer.
The website gives no season. The Gard tourist board lists the business as open all year, by booking and depending on the weather, except on some public holidays.
Kitesurfing courses run on weekdays, Monday to Thursday: the school picks the best three days out of the four, with 4 hours a day. Wingfoiling lessons of 3 hours on weekdays. 3-hour kitesurf, wing or parawing lessons every weekend, and on weekdays on request, depending on the weather.
The shop opens Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 12 pm and 3.30 pm to 6 pm, according to the online store; the website refers to Google for up-to-date opening hours.
Booking by phone on +33 6 56 68 69 40, by email or at the shop.
