Description
Cal Sailing Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run club that teaches sailing and windsurfing at the Berkeley Marina on San Francisco Bay. It is not part of the University of California.
Members get lessons and, once they pass a rating test, can use the club's fleet of 26 dinghies, 6 keelboats and 80 windsurfing boards, from novice to advanced designs. Lessons and equipment use are free: the club runs on membership dues and volunteer work. Windsurfing novice lessons start again every spring, usually on weekends; the club also runs seminars, lectures, dinghy and windsurf racing, and a monthly open house with introductory sails.
The club is open to the public all year round, and minors can join with the approval of the executive committee.
