This bay spot is adjacent to the popular Point Isabel Regional Shoreline, a large dog park. Powerful northwest thermal winds cross the bay from May through October, offering reliable conditions. The water body is bay-style with moderate chop and stunning views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

On the water

Bay-style water body with moderate chop. Water is cold (11-16°C/52-61°F), a 4/3 or 3/2 wetsuit is necessary. Muddy bottom. Tidal currents present, stronger during spring tides. Significant mudflats at low tide limiting the rideable area. Thermal wind creates regular surface chop in the afternoon.

Extensive mudflats at low tide — check tide schedules before sessions. Tidal currents that can carry riders. Maritime traffic (ferries, cargo ships, recreational boats). Cold water — wetsuit necessary year-round. Frequent fog reducing visibility. Adjacent dog park — watch for dogs on the beach during rigging.
