WISCH – Windsurfclub Hallwilersee is an association founded in 1979 in Meisterschwanden (Aargau), which makes it one of the oldest windsurf clubs in Switzerland. Its members, singles, couples and families, gather around windsurfing and, for a few years now, wing and foil. The club owns its own meadow on the east shore of Lake Hallwil, just south of the Seerose hotel: members rig in comfort there, rent covered racks to leave their boards by the water, and have direct access to the lake, a fire pit, tables and benches. Non-member windsurfers and wingers are admitted for a daily fee, and SUP storage spaces are rented without membership.
The club runs a windsurf school. As a member of SWAV (the Swiss windsurf training association), it teaches with SWAV and Jugend+Sport methods and teaching material, with trained instructors and J+S leaders; all equipment is provided, including wetsuit, shoes and buoyancy aid. The programme includes taster sessions, an Easy-Start course to learn the basics (about 12 hours), a Refresher course, an advanced module (harness and manoeuvres) and a J+S junior course for ages 10 to 20 on Wednesday afternoons. Wing taster courses have been offered since 2022 and are running again in 2026. After a course, the "Materialpool" rents out a complete windsurf kit for the season. The club points out that, as a non-commercial organisation, its courses depend on the availability of instructors and helpers from among its members.
Lake Hallwil suits beginners: flat water, no current and mostly moderate winds. West and south-west winds dominate, blowing onshore at the spot and gusty; the bise blows side-offshore, the north wind is rare but the best, and the south wind (foehn) builds waves. Foiling is allowed on the lake, but not within the 150 m shore zone, and the club sets its members rules on distances and caution. WISCH runs its own wind station at Tennwil and publishes the lake webcams. The 2026 programme includes trips to Soma Bay and El Naaba (Egypt), weekends in Domaso (Lake Como), a week in Hyères, club training sessions and a summer party. The club provides no rescue service: everyone sails at their own risk.
