Windsurfclub Eich (WSC Eich) is an association founded in 1983 with around a hundred active and passive members. It is based on the north-east shore of Lake Sempach, in Eich (canton of Lucerne). The club grew up around windsurfing but now also welcomes kitesurfers, wingfoilers, pumpfoilers, stand-up paddlers and surfers. Its statutes give it three tasks: securing lake access for members, maintaining a shelter with club equipment, and organising club life.
Members have a right of way over the lakeside plot at the Eich spot (the "Surfplatz", rented by the club). The plot is reserved for active members and their guests, two at most per member, with members having priority; no boards or sails may be left on it, and bags go into the shelter, where racks hold the gear. The club keeps beginner and children's equipment there, a wing with its foil, several SUPs and a pumpfoil with a handle (Scootpump) for learning to pump. All of this gear is lent free of charge to members for a day or for the holidays, at their own risk: users sign the list on the shelter door and report any damage to the site warden.
According to the club, Lake Sempach works best in west to north-west winds, with 4.2 to 6.5 m² sails in 4 to 8 Beaufort; strong south-westerlies and the bise can also be sailed, but they are gusty, and strong wind builds a small chop. The yearly programme mixes sessions and social events: a New Year session on 2 January, a sunset session in May, the Surfplatz party in summer, an outing to Lake Uri, group trips (Lake Como at Ascension 2025) and a St Nicholas evening in December. The website shows a webcam and wind data for Eich.
