JB Surfboards, kitesurf craftsman in Tamraght

JB Surfboards is Jalal Boumia's workshop, on the Taghazout road in Tamraght. Born and raised in Casablanca, he took his first national title in 1998 as Moroccan Junior Surf Champion, then competed on the Moroccan circuit, at the ISA World Games and on the WSL Qualifying Series. With board repair hard to find and expensive in Morocco, he learned to fix his own boards, refined the craft over the years and opened JB Surfboards in Tamraght in January 2019.

The workshop advertises four trades. Shaping: hand-built custom surfboards. Repair: dinged and snapped boards brought back with quality materials. Board art: spray paint, custom stencilling and bespoke artwork. And recycling: brand-new boards shaped from foam salvaged off boards beyond saving.

That last one is the house signature — giving boards a second life rather than binning them, out of concern for the environment and the local surf community. The workshop publishes neither opening hours nor prices and asks to be contacted to arrange a visit.
