Poupa Surfboards, kitesurf craftsman in Maritenda

Poupa Surfboards is a brand of handmade surfboards produced with artisanal techniques in the Algarve, in southern Portugal. The name comes from the hoopoe, a typical bird of the region, called "poupa" in Portuguese. The workshop and store are in Maritenda, in the municipality of Loule, inland between Quarteira and Boliqueime.

The shaper, Tiago, builds custom boards around each surfer's needs, with an artistic touch (resin swirls, painted details). The range includes longboard, egg / shortboard, mini noserider, classic noserider, fish ("Astro Fish"), progressive egg and shortboard.

Visitors can come to the workshop to talk surfing, see boards in stock and the workspace. Orders go through the website or by phone, email, Instagram and Facebook.

Hours are not published on the website; the Google listing shows an opening time of 10:00. Contacting the shop before visiting is advisable.
