Sidney Island is part of the Gulf Islands, off the Saanich Peninsula near Sidney. Only accessible by boat or foot ferry, the island features a long sand spit (Sidney Spit) that is part of a national park. The spot faces east toward the San Juan Islands and Haro Strait. Remote and wild conditions with little crowding.

Boat access only — no rescue on site. Strong tidal currents in Haro Strait. National park — regulations apply. Cold water. Unreliable cell phone coverage. Floating logs. Watch for marine wildlife (seals, orcas in the strait).
