The dominant wind is the NE (summer trade wind), blowing side-onshore on this east-facing coast. Regular NE thermal wind in the afternoon. East winds also favourable. Less urban wind effect than Durban, often cleaner wind. Year-round, best October to April.

Reef to the south of the beach. Shore break in large swell. Coastal currents. Sharks occasionally present (shark nets). Jellyfish in summer. Swimmers on weekends.
