Overview
Cola Beach is a beach located east of Sedgefield on the Garden Route, as a continuation of Myoli Beach. This fine sandy beach faces south and offers a wilder and less crowded setting than Myoli. The name comes from the brown colour of the Cola River water that flows into the ocean here. The spot combines ocean beach and river mouth area.

The spot works with winds from ESE, SE, SSE, S, SSW, SW.
Spot functioning
The spot works with SE wind in side-onshore, like neighbouring Myoli Beach. Rideable at all tides. At low tide, the beach is very wide. The Cola River mouth can offer a small area of calmer water. Less crowded than Myoli, providing more space. Best between November and February.

On the water
Waves of 1-2 metres on the ocean beach. Sandy bottom. Water near the mouth is tinted brown by tannins from the Cola River (harmless). Moderate chop in strong wind. Water temperature between 17-21°C. 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter.
Parking
Access from Sedgefield via a dirt track. Small unpaved parking set back from the beach. Less developed than Myoli Beach. No facilities on site. Bring water and supplies. Walking access possible from Myoli Beach along the beach.
Wind specificities
Southeast wind dominates, blowing side-onshore on this south-facing coast. The SE thermal picks up in the early afternoon from October to March, reaching 15-25 knots. Similar conditions to neighbouring Myoli Beach. Southwest wind brings more unstable fronts. The Cola River mouth does not significantly affect the wind pattern.
Hazards
Shore break during large swells. Currents at the Cola River mouth. More isolated spot than Myoli — no lifeguard service. Sharks present in the area. No immediate medical services nearby. Avoid riding alone. Check conditions before heading out.
