Works S to N (estuarine channel orientation). Beautiful venturi acceleration from the N. Wind can be gusty and irregular due to surrounding vegetation and riverbanks. Deep water — no standing depth. Strong tidal current from Rance barrage.

Hazards

No standing depth — deep water at all times. Many boat moorings — obstacle risk. Significant tidal current from the Rance barrage — strong and potentially opposing. Not suitable for beginners. Never ride alone.
