Fox's Point on Last Mountain Lake is a spot on Saskatchewan's longest natural lake (100 km). Last Mountain Lake, oriented north-south, offers exceptional fetch for the prevailing northwest winds that run along the lake. Fox's Point, in the northern part of the lake, is a popular launch point. Last Mountain Lake also hosts North America's oldest migratory bird sanctuary (1887). 100 km natural lake oriented north-south. Exceptional fetch in north or south winds (up to 100 km!). Flat water in bays, significant chop in open sections. Sandy and muddy bottom. Water warming in summer (18-22°C). Moderate depth (prairie lake).
Extreme fetch (100 km) that can generate very rough conditions. Violent prairie thunderstorms. Long lake — significant drift risk. Cold water in spring and fall. Migratory bird sanctuary — respect protected areas. Algae possible in late summer.
