Overview

Fantasy Island is a kitesurf spot located in Tasman Bay, near Marahau, on the South Island of New Zealand. This sandbank appears at low tide in the estuary, creating a flat and shallow body of water ideal for kitesurfing. The spot is very popular with local kitesurfers from the Nelson area. The prevailing winds come from the north and northwest, with regular thermals in summer. The spot is suitable for beginner to intermediate kitesurfers thanks to the flat and shallow waters. It is essential to check tide times as the sandbank is only accessible at low and mid-tide.
