Overview

Frankston is a kitesurf spot located on the east coast of Port Phillip Bay, in the southeast suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. This sandy beach offers an accessible body of water in the sheltered bay, suitable for beginners and intermediates. Frankston is the main urban center of the Mornington Peninsula. Prevailing southwest to west winds blow side-shore on this west-facing beach. Summer thermal breezes are regular in the afternoon. The water is flat to slightly choppy, with no significant waves in the bay. Frankston is well served by train from Melbourne. Many shops and restaurants are nearby. Parking is available along the beach. Watch out for swimming zones and the Frankston pier.
