On the water

Riding in Puget Sound with cold saltwater (8-14°C/46-57°F). A 4/3 to 5/3mm wetsuit recommended. Flat water to light chop on the sheltered side of the island. Strong current in the channel — staying upwind can be challenging. Sandy bottom, shallow in places.

Parking

Lot's of parking available by the boat launch. Day pass costs about $5

Wind specificities

On a typical Jetty day, the wind picks up in the mid afternoon when the interior is warm enough and the thermals draw in the air from the Puget Sound. Typically a NW wind, 15 to 20 knots. Wind dies down around sunset.

Hazards

There are no specific dangers on Jetty. The current is strong and staying upwind can be a challenge. But there is plenty of beach to land and walk back to the launch area.

In the summer when the ferry is running, watch for swimmers and other beach users.

Foilers be aware of the shallow water.
