Overview

Luskentyre is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with its pristine white sand and turquoise waters on the west coast of the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. This exceptional kitesurfing spot offers a wild and preserved setting, with very regular wind conditions thanks to the Atlantic exposure. The beach is immense at low tide, offering huge space for sailing.

Parking

Small car park at the end of the Luskentyre road. Access via a single-track road with passing places from the main A859 road. Limited space, arrive early in high season. Ferry access from Skye (Uig-Tarbert) or crossing from Ullapool to Stornoway then road to Harris.

Hazards

Very strong tidal currents in the channel between the beach and Taransay Island. Fast rising tide on this very flat beach — constantly monitor the water level. Very cold water year-round (5/4 wetsuit recommended). Isolation — no quick rescue available. Weather conditions change very rapidly.
