Caroual is the largest beach at Erquy — an exceptional playground with vast sand stretches, beautiful rocky reliefs, and regular Atlantic swell. Managed by Emeraude Kite association. All disciplines possible: freestyle, freeride, slalom, waves. KiteCenter22 school operates here (initiation on sand, then water). The bay of Erquy (west of port) provides a deep, obstacle-free flat-water area for beginners when Caroual conditions are too demanding.

KiteCenter22 (kitecenter22.fr) — kite school based at Caroual, active on this spot. Emeraude Kite (emeraudekite.com) — local association managing spot information. Zone de kite: left (west) side of beach only — right side (Erquy village) is a designated swimming zone, strictly forbidden for kite.

Intermediate
Minimum WSW (225°) required for stable, non-gusty conditions (source: Emeraude Kite). At low tide: more regular wind. At high tide: wind disrupted by Pointe de Pléneuf-Val-André — gusty regardless of direction. WSW is the ideal side-shore tack. NW also works (side-onshore). Swell: W/NW — wave conditions appreciated by windsurfers, wingfoilers and experienced kitesurfers.
Strictly forbidden to launch on the right (east/Erquy village) side — supervised swimming zone. Kite zone: west half only. The Pointe de Pléneuf-Val-André (upwind) creates gusty and disrupted wind — minimum WSW (225°) required at low tide for stable conditions. At high tide: wind disrupted and gusty regardless of direction — prefer mid to low tide. Cohabitation with char à voile, speedsail, surfers, windsurfers, swimmers — coordinate carefully.
