Almugar Surf Shop

Almugar Surf Shop is Taghazout's first surf shop, opened in 2003 by Mo, who was born in the village and co-founded the DFrost Almugar camp. It stands at the entrance to the village as you arrive from Agadir, directly opposite the mosque — the only one in town. Its name means « meeting place » in Berber: it is where surfers gathered before heading off together to find the best waves, and the shop has since grown into one of the largest in Taghazout.

Its core business is board repair. The workshop handles dings and cracks, and the shop makes a point of it: it imports its repair materials from Europe twice a year so that boards hold up after they leave. The rest of the store covers everything a surfer might be short of — rash guards, boardshorts, fins, wetsuits, wax — plus a range of sun protection also imported from Europe.

Almugar is also the main distributor of GSI, Global Surf Industries, in Morocco. It rents boards for every level, from beginner foamies to more technical shapes, stocking Gnaraloo, NSP, Walden, Modern, Haydenshapes, 7s and Zero, and sells new GSI and Zero boards. Guests of the DFrost Almugar camp get 10% off everything in the shop.

The shop publishes no opening hours.
