Max Respect Surf School Contis

Max Respect has run surf schools on the Landes coast for over 30 years, with sites at Contis and Saint-Girons. This listing is the Contis-Plage school, in Saint-Julien-en-Born. The schools are labelled by the French Surfing Federation and received the Qualité Tourisme mark in December 2016.

Lessons are collective, with at most eight students per instructor. In peak season the school offers 5 x 2-hour courses from Monday to Friday, 3 x 2-hour mini-courses and Kids sessions from Monday to Saturday. Four levels are distinguished: complete beginner, beginner+, improvement and confirmed. Children can start from age 6 depending on the child; higher levels require swimming 25 m. A free discovery session for seniors and surf-health sessions are announced.

Instructors hold the state diploma. The schools are open April to November, with winter sessions possible on request; schedules are given the day before and adjusted daily, students being expected in swimwear ten minutes before the lesson. Lockers are available.
