SURF CLUB Chiba (サーフクラブ 千葉校)

SURF CLUB is a surf school founded in 1999, with several branches in Chiba prefecture and on the Shonan coast. The Chiba branch is in Magame, Kujukuri town, on the Kujukuri coast, a short walk from a nearly deserted beach. It describes itself as having the largest clubhouse in Japan.

Lessons run every day except in rough weather, with a shuttle from Nishi-Funabashi station. The school starts with a safety briefing on sea hazards and surf etiquette, then a full-day introduction on soft boards in shallow water where you can stand, insurance included. Next come follow-up lessons, a monthly coached subscription, video coaching and free surfing for those who have already taken a lesson. If a student does not stand up first time, they can retake the introductory lesson free of charge within a month, subject to availability.

The coaches are experienced professionals, and the school also hosts media shoots.

Open daily except in bad weather.
