Stoked Surf School teaches surfing at Sumner Beach in Christchurch, from a big black trailer near Cave Rock on the Esplanade. It welcomes adults and children, from first-timers to surfers who want to improve.
The offer includes adult group lessons, premium lessons for two, private coaching of 1.5 to 2 hours, family sessions, women's sessions, nine-week programmes for ages 7 to 17 during the school term, school-holiday lessons and a January surf camp. One-off youth lessons include the board, wetsuit and coaching.
The school also hires boards and wetsuits from November and runs sessions for community groups and school camps. Its coaches are described as former national and international competitors.
