High Life Kitesurfing School
Calle 79 nº 316, 97320 Progreso · Yucatán · Mexico
School Presentation
High Life is an IKO-affiliated kitesurf school in Progreso, on the Yucatán coast, a few minutes from Mérida and 45 km from the airport. Every instructor is certified and lessons are private and personalised, one-to-one with recent equipment; an IKO certificate is issued at the level reached and is valid at other IKO centres worldwide.
The school offers a discovery course, 6, 9 or 12-hour packages, hourly lessons to progress (jumps, transitions, grabs), courses for children aged 8 to 17 and kitefoil lessons. On offshore days, lessons run with boat support at sea and in the lagoon.
The Progreso water is shallow and averages 28 °C, with little boat traffic. From March to August the thermal sea breeze blows 15 to 25 knots; from November to February, cold fronts bring gusts of up to 30 knots. The shop sells new and used gear (kites, boards, bars, harnesses, wetsuits) as well as spearfishing, freediving and snorkelling equipment, and the school runs spearfishing outings.
