Surf Sister Surf School

Surf Sister is a surf school founded in 1999 in Tofino, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Its mission is to build a more inclusive surf community, and its team of instructors welcomes people of all backgrounds and gender identities.

Lessons are for all levels: private lessons from age 6 or group lessons from age 12 (minimum 100 pounds and basic swimming skills). The school also runs teen and adult camps from May to September 2026, large-group sessions for schools and companies year round with off-season discounts, and surf yoga. Surfing here goes on all year.

The base is in downtown Tofino (Shred Quarters) with a surf and apparel shop; a second spot, the Surf Shack at Pacific Sands Beach Resort, offers rentals and private lessons for resort guests only. The school also supports the Tofino Surf Lifesaving Club.
