Rusheen Bay Watersports

Rusheen Bay Watersports is a watersports centre on Galway Bay, on the Barna Road, 5 km from Galway city centre. It describes itself as the only windsurfing school in the city and also offers kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, as lessons and rentals.

The intro windsurfing lesson lasts two hours, with plenty of time on the water and land-based simulator work, all equipment supplied. The centre is an Irish Sailing Association (ISA) training centre and teaches the ISA Go! Windsurfing courses in three levels. Rental stock includes Starboard and JP boards from 80 to 160 litres, Unifiber beginner boards up to 225 litres, and Loftsails, Severne and Unifiber sails from 3.0 to 5.8.

The centre also runs kids' summer camps, school tours, corporate groups, birthday parties and hen and stag parties.

Open mid-April to mid-November. Beginner windsurfing lessons on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm, and on Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 6:30pm depending on demand; advance booking essential. Rental during opening hours, booked by phone.
